Mathews County, Virginia offers the ideal location for a triathlon: miles of water front with limited water traffic for open-water swims, absolutely flat terrain on picturesque country back roads for safe and speedy cycling and running. If that has piqued your interest, consider enlisting a few friends and schedule a morning for your own Micro Triathlon event or check out our MMTS Series (4 triathlons, one a month throughout the summer).
Your very own event. Our club will reserve the facility (Williams Wharf), set up the transition point, mark the course, and time your triathlon including splits for each leg and each transition. The distances are intentionally shorter than traditional Sprint Distance triathlons – this allows the serious competitor an opportunity to practice transitions, and provides “first timers” a less intimidating event – or even sign up as a Relay!
A five-person minimum ($100) is all that’s required to schedule the event – we are now accepting reservations for 2020. Just complete the Micro Triathlon Request Form and return to the address on the form with payment. Compared to larger triathlons, the low $20 per person charge is very reasonable. As soon as we receive your registration, we will confirm facility and staff availability and set your date.
Availability in 2020. Although we typically schedule on Saturday or Sunday mornings, we will consider weekdays or weekend afternoons with enough notice! A few dates are not available for scheduling (we’ve either planned vacations or signed up for other events). Unavailable on: Memorial Day & Labor Day weekends, MMTS dates (May 30, Jun 13, Jul 11, Aug 1, Aug 9-24, Oct 3).
The event will be posted on line (to allow for other participants to register) with your group listed as event sponsors. The popularity of our Micro Triathlons is growing: don’t be surprised to find that your group of 5 or more expands to 20+ participants, many of whom aren’t able to collect the 5 person minimum so they are just waiting to jump into your event.
