Kukini Feedback

We want to know what you think & any questions you have for us about this event.  Chances are, others have the same question.  Email the club at vttrunners@gmail.com and we’ll respond & post your question here as appropriate.

What does Kukini mean? What is it?  In Hawaiian, Kukini means “swift runner or messenger, employed by old chiefs, with a premium on their speed” Because this race will be run completely on one of Virginia’s coolest islands, we adopted the “Island Theme” for the event.  Race shirts & awards will have the island theme – and we’d love to see participants join us by “dressing in island causal” (dig out that grass skirt & panama hat).

Is the 2015 race chip timed?  Sorry, not this (our inaugural) year.  The 1M & 5K will be clock timed & results manually tallied.  We expect to grow and be able to offer chip timing in upcoming years.

When is next year’s race?  The event will always be held in conjunction with the Annual Gwynn’s Island Festival on the final weekend of June.  Next year’s Kukini Run will be on Saturday, June 25, 2016 and will include an 8k option.
